Jackie was born and raised in Hong Kong. She first experienced the excitement of sailing in an after-school program at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club at the age of 8. Soon after, she joined the Club’s racing squad and began her racing career in Optimists. She then moved on to sail Lasers and 420s before settling down in the Laser Radial class where she climbed to the top female ranking. She represented Hong Kong in the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships in 2015, and placed 18th at the Laser Radial Youth European Sailing Championships, 5th in the Women’s Radial at the ASAF Asian Sailing Cup, and 12th in Women’s Radial at the China National Games. She was awarded Young Sailor of the Year by Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club in 2016.
Having represented her University sailing team at fleet, team racing, and yachting championships, as well as in national rowing competitions in the UK, there is no question Jackie is a dedicated sportswoman. She continued her leadership in sailing as Yachting Captain of her University at the British University Yachting Championships. Jackie is a strong team player and leader who builds teamwork and a strong bond within the team which are both vital to success in the Youth America’s Cup.
